Registration Opens Online
for Montgomery County

GSK Science in the Summer, in partnership with The Franklin Institute, is a free science education program that helps elementary school children in the greater Philadelphia area “grow into science.” Through classes held in your local public library, the program gets kids excited about studying science with hands-on experiments.

GSK Science in the Summer™ is sponsored by GSK in partnership with The Franklin Institute and local libraries.

Special note: For the first time, registration for GSK Science in the Summer™ in the Greater Philadelphia Area is online! To register, you must have a valid email address, which you can create for free through a variety of websites, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail. Use your home computer or visit your local library to use the public computers to complete the online registration. Registration opens May 4 at noon and will be processed in the order they are received.

How:
Again, registration will be ONLINE OnlyThe process is time sensitive and has multiple parts.  Use your home computer or visit us to use the public computers.  The registration process and policies should be read carefully to avoid any accidental cancellations.

Overview of the Process to register your child for an available session:
Part 1:

  1. Click the registration button (after May 4 at Noon)
  2. Choose the county you live in and click on the library with available registration spaces, which will be posted under the library listing.
  3. Review the session information and click the registration link.
  4. Complete the registration information and submit.

 Part 2:

  1.  Within approximately 20-60 minutes,  an email from ABC Signup will be sent to the email address on the registration form.  Check your junk or spam folder in case the email was filtered by your security settings.
  2. Open the email and the attached link.
  3. Read and electronically sign the release form to complete the registration process.  This form must be submitted within 3 days from receiving it for your child to be accepted into the program.  Your child will be canceled from the session if a signed release form is not submitted within 3 days.
  4. Keep your confirmation emails until the session starts.

  4. Complete the registration information and submit.

  6. This email is NOT a confirmed registration.

Part 2:

  1. If a program space opens up, the next child on the wait list will be moved into the open space and the parent/guardian will be notified by email from ABC Signup.
  2. If you receive this email, open it and the attached link to complete Part 2 of the registration process.
  3. Read and electronically sign the release form.
  4. This form must be submitted within 3 days from receiving it for your child to be accepted into the program.  Your child will be canceled from the session if a signed release form is not submitted within 3 days.
  5. Keep your confirmation emails until the session starts.

When:
Science in the Summer is July 20 & 21 for the Huntingdon Valley Library
Level I (grades 2-3) 10 am – Noon
Level II (grades 4-6) 1 pm – 3

Who:
Montgomery County students entering second through sixth grade are invited to register and attend.

  • The Franklin InstituteThis year, GSK Science in the Summer™ celebrates 29 years of offering elementary school children a fun and free science experience at public libraries in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
  • This year approximately 5,280 local children will be introduced to the joys of science when they participate in GSK Science in the Summer™ program.
  • GSK Science in the Summer™ is offered free of charge at local libraries.
  • Libraries are important resources for their communities because they provide learning opportunities for children throughout the entire year, including summers.
  • GSK, The Franklin Institute and Philadelphia-area public libraries are partners in the planning and implementation of the program.
