Embedded DIG into Reading LogoJoin the reading club at Huntingdon Valley Library this summer. Children of all ages may participate. Registration begins on June 21.

Minutes spent reading or listening to books are eligible to be recorded on your “game board.” Earn Book Bucks from HV Bank, Bertucci’s pizza, and books as you add to your reading record! Dig into the brochures Brochure to find out all about our exciting programs.  Come for our fun-filled End of Summer Party on Tuesday, August 6 with face-painting, tattoos, games, pizza and balloon animals.  Take home the book of your choice from our special selection as a reward for your participation.

Details:

  • Dig Into Reading Game Board – our own Christina H. designed the game board each reader will use to keep track of the minutes they spend reading (or listening). Also, we have a Book log, if your reader wants to keep track of the titles.
    • Ages 8 and under – color in or mark off one (1) space for each 20 minutes of reading.  Four (4) hours of reading earns you one (1) Book Buck!
    • Ages 9 and over – color in or mark off one (1) space for every 30 minutes of reading.  Six (6) hours of reading earns you one (1) Book Buck!
  • Bertucci’s Book Card – Independent Readers age 12 and under can earn a Bertucci’s Kids Meal (dine in only) when they read 6 books.  One coupon per visit. Ask at the desk for details.
  • Book Bucks – Huntingdon Valley Bank’s “Little Patriot Savers” program rewards our young readers while teaching the rewards of savings. The Little Patriot Savers account features: No monthly service fee and the Good Grades Club where children can earn $1 for each “A” in an academic subject up to $5 per marking period.  Summer Reading offers an opportunity to earn an additional $10 for completing the Game Board.
  • Dairy Queen – Just for signing up, you get a coupon for a Free Cone from the Bethayre’s Dairy Queen.
