Friends Silent Auction

Friends Silent Book Auction

Here’s How it Works:

Look at the books on display and select those you want to bid on.
Check the chart to find the highest current bid.
If you want to raise the bid (by at least $.25), complete the chart.
Fill out one slip per bid with your name, phone number, item number and bid. Put it in the box (to protect your personal information).
Bids must be greater than or equal to the minimum bid listed for each book.
Each group of books will be open for bids for one (1) month. If you will, you will be contacted. Then just come in to pay for and pick up your book at the Circulation Desk. Let staff know you’re picking up a Silent Auction book…or by habit, we will go looking on the Holds Shelf!
Every month a new selection of books is displayed for bidding.

It was reported in today’s Friends Meeting that the auction made about $55 last month. Proceeds go to the Friends, who in turn fund programs, collections and events at the Library.

Monday mornings 10:30-11:30 Preschool Story Hour… stories, songs, crafts, fun

Friday mornings 10:30-11:15 Lap Story Hour (children 6-24 months)… stories, songs, finger plays, interactive play

Science in the Summer registration is early this year from May 1-May 31. Registration forms are available at the circulation desk. Those selected will be notified by June 7. The theme this summer is Genetics. The dates are mornings from July 15 – 18.

May 7 7:00 pm Signs of Spring PJ Party…stories, songs, crafts, pizza from Bertucci’s!

May 13 7:00 pm Mother-Daughter Book Club for girls in grades 4, 5, and 6 and Moms of all ages. (We meet on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm) Tonight we will be reading and discussing All Alone in the Universe by Lynne Rae Perkins. Sign up on the counter in the children’s area and pick up your copy of the book at the circulation desk.

May 23 7:00 pm Rick Mikula- the Butterfly Guy A Family program….Learn all about butterflies plus how to make a butterfly box and how to entice butterflies into your yard. Held in the upstairs Community Room.

In the 1860’s, at the beginning of their careers, Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir often set up their easels, side-by-side, along the banks of the Seine where they depicted Parisians at leisure – swimming, boating, picnicking. As they developed, their art moved along divergent courses.

This lecture will explore their artistic production into the first decades of the 20th century. The lecture’s illustrations will include some works from Philadelphia’s two great holdings of Impressionist art: The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes Foundation.

On APRIL 4, 2013, from 1:45-2:30, the Friends of Huntingdon Valley Library will sponsor a presentation/demonstration by members of the Bryn Athyn Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Bryn Athyn Fire Co. Ambulance is the primary EMS service to both Bryn Athyn Borough and Lower Moreland Township.

What level of services does our local squad provide?

What can each of us do to prepare for an emergency call?

What kind of response time can we expect?

What are the new changes to CPR procedures?

How does an AED work?

What is the relationship of Bryn Athyn EMS with HV Fire Co.?
